Patents Issued to THE TOFIK K. KHANMAMEDOV COMPANY for New Gas Sweetening and Tail Gas Treatment Technology
05:16 p.m Oct 23, 1998 Eastern

HOUSTON, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Two U.S. patents were awarded to Dr. Tofik K. Khanmamedov in 1998, which strengthen his exclusive position on his HIGHSULF™ Gas Sweetening technology patented in 1996 and expands his patents estate.

These technologies provide a unique concept for removal of contaminants from gases and significantly improve generic gas sweetening processes.

HIGHSULF™ increases CO2 rejection in amine units, increases H2S concentration in acid gases, reduces hydrocarbons, COS and water concentration in the regenerator off gas and significantly reduces hydraulic loading of a Claus sulfur recovery unit.

HIGHSULF™ also enhances the operation of amine based Tail Gas Treating Units (TGTU). The increased CO2 rejection in the absorber reduces the lean amine cooling requirements. This translates to reduced utility cost for an existing TGTU or reduced equipment cost for a new unit. This increased CO2 rejection also reduces oxygen consumption in Claus sulfur recovery units or increases throughput at the same oxygen consumption level.

The HIGHSULF™ processes are based on utilizing existing equipment and solvents. A significant advantage of HIGHSULF™ is attaining the same level of CO2 rejection with generic amines that are attained with more costly specialty amines.

HIGHSULF™ does not require existing process configuration or equipment changes and has been proven using current industry process simulation programs.

Dr. Khanmamedov currently has sole rights to three U.S. patents, with several patent applications pending in the U.S. Patent Office and international (PCT) patent application pending.

He holds 20 patents, published more than 80 papers and commercialized new catalysts and technology for incineration of tail gases of sulfur plants in Russia and Uzbekistan. Dr. Khanmamedov has been engaged in sulfur related processes development and process design since 1983 in both the former Soviet Union and the USA.

THE TOFIK K. KHANMAMEDOV COMPANY (est. 1995), a technology leader in sulfur related processes, continues to progress in developing new technologies for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. There has been strong interest in these technologies from major refinery and gas processing companies.

THE TOFIK K. KHANMAMEDOV COMPANY is a United States based leading edge technology development company that has also developed special knowledge in working with SHIFT-CLAUS® and TC™ sulfur recovery processes for +99% sulfur recovery and flameless treatment of diluted acid gases. The Company's strategy is to focus its internal resources on research, development and marketing while taking advantage of strategic collaborations to assist in financing, technical and manufacturing synergism.
